The truth about ‘hustling’
“Agitation, haste, restlessness lead nowhere. It is foam on the sea; it is a great fuss that stops with itself.”
— The Mother
Birth, creation, all happens from space.
And while our human bodies are made of around 65-85% water (depending who you speak to, what you read, or google), the atoms in our cells are 99.9999% space.
The idea that great accomplishments happen in the rushing, and "bursting into fits of feverish activity" is one of life's greatest illusions. To think that activity of this nature is changing and evolving anything into impactful creation is like "taking a cup and beating the water in it; the water is moved about, but it is not changed for all your beating".
Real, lasting change from action has been accomplished by those who can stand outside the action in silence, stillness, and spacious observation. It is important that we begin to dissolve (or rather quickly destruct) the idea that to do good things for humanity and the world around us, we must expend all of our energy, 'hustle', grind, and hasten.
And of higher priority is to cut down the illusion of action, especially in the age of the highly polished social media feed. It's time to breakdown the idea of 'overnight success' and the constant (and so very tiresome) 'doing', and to understand the power in our small daily actions to uncover the gifts we were sent here to give.
Where can you add more silence to your day to allow for greater witnessing, and observation from the outside the fuss?
Written with love and a smile,

Who is 'The Mother'?
The Mother was born Mirra Alfassa in Paris on 21 February 1878. A pupil at the Academie Julian, she became an accomplished artist, and also excelled as a pianist and writer. Interested in occultism, she visited Tlemcen, Algeria, in 1905 and l906 to study with the adept Max Theon and his wife. Her primary interest, however, was spiritual development. In Paris she founded a group of spiritual seekers and gave talks to various groups. Read more about The Mother and her relationship with Sri Aurobindo, here.
